Is age-based pricing really the only way to run a Direct Primary Care practice? Dr. Charles Opperman, internist and founder of Simplicity Health in Ohio, didn't think so. He planned his Direct Primary…
Obviously there's, uh, maybe I'm wrong in saying this, but I'd say the majority of direct primary care practices are age-based pricing.
When I, well, opened my practice in 2020, the Facebook group, the DPC Docs existed, and I'm so grateful for that, and I think I read every book that existed.
I think Doug Farrago's book and Paul Thomas' book and so trying to figure out how to start all this stuff out.
There's probably gonna be 30-year-olds that need a lot of, of my attention, and I'm gonna give them my cell phone number for maybe, I don't know, their broken toenail.
But the 80-year-old lady that doesn't even know how to use a cell phone, doesn't know how to text, I'm gonna charge her more.
So we, we do not, and I wanna make it very clear- I don't treat our patients on the lower tier like less quality or, "Oh, you're paying me less money, so I'm not gonna give you as good of care."
