After narrowing down a record of more than 250 plus submissions, we have our top 40.

This year was pretty special as we opened up nominations to sectors that are beyond construction.

So we saw people in manufacturing, we saw people in engineering, we saw people in transportation, people who work at Canada's ports, mining, all sorts of stuff.

um so it really is representative of the entire industrial sector uh as a whole um and i think there's tons of overlap between all these sectors you know construction mining uh transportation ports all these things are very inter interdependent and i think that we thought it made a lot of sense to open things up a bit more I think also on a special note, we found that more than 25% of this year's winners were women.

This is so important because traditionally, this has been a very underrepresented group in construction especially, but I think in the industrial sector broadly.

And not only were many of our winners women, but many of our top scoring people were women.

And it's just really great to see women not only participate in the industrial sector, but dominate and really reach some of those high level C-suite positions and be leading companies to be CEOs.

And I think more than just the raw accomplishments that people had, the position that they've reached, the PhDs, the titles that they hold, you know, the multibillion dollar projects these worked on.

More than all that, I was really impressed by the deep character of a lot of these people.

You know, I read stories about people who, you know, not only were rock stars in the boardroom, but they came home and they were incredible parents to their children.

I read about managers who worked multiple Christmases at really remote sites so that their workers could go home and spend the holidays with their families.

I read about people who volunteer to teach disabled people how to ski, people who volunteer to do ice hockey officiating, a lot of charity work, people who are doing racing for charity.

Because I think that more than just the accomplishments of these people professionally, they're exceptional Canadian citizens and they're exceptional people in their communities.

So I'm just so proud of all these people and not just the winners, but our 100 finalists who just narrowly made the cut.

I'm really, really happy that this year we wanted to highlight these finalists and we feature them on our website because I mean, we have to narrow the list down to 40, but it was really, really, really difficult.
