**THE START OF A NEW SEASON IS HERE!** Pre-season panic and Premier League predictions! In this episode, Joe breaks down the 4-2 pre-season defeat to AC Milan. With former United boss Ruben Amorim on…
We get on to this game now, which is the massive, massive game in the headlines as Ruben Amorim comes and faces Manchester United again.
Now, his track record in the preseason was awful.
They had not won a single game in preseason under Ruben Amorim.
and there's been a lot of unrest online about the desire and the issues with the team after this game.
But we're going to really dive into pre-season as a whole, talk about the positives and the negatives of it.
Now, I did want to focus on this game, I was going to do a dedicated episode to this game, but the truth is I realised it probably didn't mean as much as the game probably isolatedly did in the one stage.
There's one invaluable lesson that we learned from Ruben Amorim smacking us in preseason, and that is that Manchester United really, really need a left back.
Now, a left-back right now is our main concern.
Left-back is a huge issue right now.
And we don't have a mobile left-back who can attack and defend at a great intensity.
It really limits our team.
And Luke Shaw did get caught out massively against Ruben Amorim's new side.
And Chuka Waze was fantastic against us, holding the width there.
wing back to a particular problem against Manchester United on that day.
And this is where, you know, I was saying at the time, I remember just sort of repeating in a sort of psychological horror that why have we not got a left back? Why haven't we got a left back? So I did have to take a little bit of time to cool and reset because truth be told, I was not particularly happy, not very happy at all.
So i'm really really disappointed with the fact that in our window right now Um, and again, this will differ this will be different to my usual podcasts where I try and remain positive But I am feeling a bit bleak on the left back front.
I do think they shouldn't have left this Until the later start like sort of later stages of the window um, we should already have had left back completely addressed and yet it's not been completely addressed right now, so I'm hoping this week we'll get some official news on that.
We've heard some rumours today about Club Brugge's left-back Joaquin Saiz, I'm not quite 100% sure how to say his surname just yet, but I'm not going to pretend to know that I know much about this player apart from the fact that I have definitely signed him on Football Manager before, like Andre Santos to be honest.
But, listen, with left-backs, you know, Man Utd might be required to go into the market for one of those rogue choices.
If you want to go for one of those rogue decisions that ends up coming good, absolutely could end up working for us.
But I think Man Utd right now just need a left-back who's going to fight for Luke Shaw, compete with him.
And right now we haven't really got that.
So I think that's our biggest lesson, absolutely, of pre-season.
Yeah.
