Introducing Definitely Fiction!

So this is a podcast about books, not just any books.

We are going to be covering Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga, a wonderful sci-fi series that she wrote from 1986 to 2018.

We're going to talk about the entire series.

And this is a series of books that I love.

I've been telling people about them on various podcasts and in real life.

And one of the people that I told about this series was my good friend, Sam Parrish.

It's fair to say that you told me about them many times.

And I had a long list of books to read and was like, okay, I guess I better finally get this in there.

And I've read five of the series and there's roughly 18.

And it was somewhere when I got to that fifth one that we got really excited about talking about them together.

Yes.

And you suggested we come down here and turn on the mics.

Yeah, this is definitely one of those podcasts where I want to just make a podcast with my friend talking about things, because we already talk a lot about movies and books, and Sam is the dungeon master in my D&D group, and we just spend a lot of time talking about this kind of stuff.

And this series is very special to me, partly because I think a lot of people aren't that familiar with it.

You're a big sci-fi fan and hadn't heard of it.

A lot of our other friends who read a lot also weren't that familiar with it.

So it's a really fun series to introduce to people, to spread the word about, because it's so fantastic and it's so fun to talk about.

So, yeah, you had gotten up to the fifth book, Setaganda, and then I reread that book with you and thought, man, we should make a podcast about this.

So we recorded an episode just to see how it would go about Shards of Honor, which is the first book in the order that we're reading the series in.

And like five minutes into the conversation, it was very clear, okay, this is great.

We should just release this to the world.
