Yeah, well, uh, this is a, a fantastic episode and, and so central to, to everything that we're living with.

So, uh, the, the five big tech companies are, are now spending more than the oil and gas industry on capital investment.

[laughs] It's being supercharged, right? Uh, and of course, the, the big, uh, link there is to data centers.

And, and we've seen some stepping back from commitments by those big tech companies.

Uh, we do need to keep it in perspective, right? Uh, data centers account for around 1.5% of global consumption of electricity, so, you know, much less than some other sectors.

Um, but there is an open question, uh, you know, could AI actually deliver some of the emission reductions as a result of all the benefits it brings? And at the moment, there's an estimate by the International Energy Agency of, uh, reductions of perhaps 5% by 2035.

Um, so, you know, we're, we're ha- I, I guess that's something we might explore in this, in this episode as well.

So lots of big numbers there, and also a story of exponential growth as well in terms of that capital investment number.

Yeah, well, I think it makes sense that we're gonna focus in, uh, really on, on the tech of the day, which is, which is AI and, and data and so on.

The question really is, is it going to accelerate the transition that we're looking for in all these other sectors, or is it going to accelerate the decline, the problem? Uh, so that's a big question, something I'd like to hear more about.
