Dec 10, 2025 · 2 hr 47 min · 11 segments
It takes about 50ish minutes to get to proper Final Fantasy IV talk however we spend the first chunk discussing, Final Fantasy in Magic the Gathering, the Final Fantasy Tactics Remake, and remakes in…
I hope you've been doing okay lately, Jake.
As we talked a little bit about how I'm doing before the episode, which...
Largely not great, but there have been good things.
Good? Yeah.
And...
As I feel like is going to be a theme, and I'll keep it short, I've been continuing to play some Magic, mostly online, through the Magic the Gathering Arena game.
It was basically Sephiroth and a bunch of vampires, and it was really built around self-sacrifice, because when characters on your side died, it did damage to the enemy and healed you.
It was a very interesting way of running a deck.
But this time I've switched it up, and now I'm running a very cloud-centric deck.
Okay.
And this deck is built more around...
There are cards called artifacts that you can put out on the board that don't do...
They usually do some sort of effect on the board.
And in the case of the kind that I'm running, they're equipment artifacts that you could then spend magic points to... equipped to a character card and it'll boost their stats and give them effects and stuff like that and so it's an interesting way of running a deck very different from how i was doing before and it's just constantly built around how big can you make a single card with tons of equipment to to and make it like invulnerable to different types of damage and to avoid being blocked by other characters and beat the shit out of the enemy.
It's like, how many big sticks can I give this character? And the cloud cards are all built around that sort of play style.
How many
buster swords can he have?
Technically, technically, technically, in Arena, there's only one buster sword card.
And you can run four, four of any one card.
so technically i believe i could play four buster swords however that seems unnecessary and the amount of time it would take to put that many buster swords on the board and equip them all um like i just don't think that that would make a lot of sense So I only have one Buster Sword in my deck.
However, the main cloud that I'm running, that I run four of, it's called Cloud Midgar Mercenary.
And that card, whenever it's played, you're allowed to search your entire deck for whichever piece of equipment you want and put it in your hand.
Oh, so basically you're pulling the Buster Sword out every time.
Exactly, yeah.
