Creed Gunn, BW dealer and fourth-generation farmer, joins Sean live in Fort Wayne to talk about the most overlooked input in your sprayer: the water. Hard water, high pH and bicarbonates can tie up…
So you're a farmer, but you've been around here as long as I can remember, you know, as a dealer.
Case study Craig is a great way to put it because, you know, my experiences with Craig, just talk to him here.
several weeks ago with top golf, you know, they're here in late summer and he sat me down and was going through some of the things that he had done.
And, but he also has a strict policy that he's not spreading any dry fertilizer.
Even if, uh, me and Devin and Blake, all of you guys have been down there with him and, um, I'm not saying it's, it's, uh, going to be, we're going to see what's going to happen, but he was on a, uh, very long-term.
His dad was a big, you know, traditional ag guy spread every spring in front of corn and beans based off of what the local co-op, you know, that's what we were supposed to be doing.
And he didn't, he didn't understand it, got working with us, saw some of the things I was doing on my side of the farm and he wanted to catch on and kind of do the same thing.
So the yields we were pulling with what we weren't applying and, uh, He's going on, I think eight years of zero applied fertility.
Now I'm not saying like, again, I'm not saying that's what everybody should do, but the, the neatest thing about all of it was his crop adjuster came to him or his insurance agent came to him last year and said, something happened from this date to this date, you have the biggest jump in your corn APH out of all my customers in the county, what happened? And that was when he went off the rails, so to speak.
Yeah, like he just thought he's, you know, no matter what the recs say, and that's an interesting, like you say, it's an interesting case study because, you know, that's the thing is we get lumped into, hey, these guys don't believe in spreading fertilizer, right? Or they tell you not to spread fertilizer and that's not the case.
when we feel like there's a need for an application or when the data tells us that we're trying to bridge a gap is what we're doing.
You can talk about how, you know, what your soils can cycle and do that sort of thing.
