And Helen, as you've mentioned previously, your diaries did begin as a lockdown project.
And did you then assume that they would be ending as the restrictions were removed?
Yeah.
That seemed like a logical conclusion to a project which I'd actually titled The Lockdown Diaries.
But I actually decided when lockdown did end, I wasn't ready to finish with them-

... because I personally was getting a lot from doing them.
And I must admit, I'd received such great positive feedback from others that I was really encouraged to carry on, so.
Do you think maybe then it's a bit of your people-pleasing instincts kicking in then? You know, you've got some good feedback, might encourage you have carried on?
Perhaps.
I mean, I certainly got a buzz for doing something that others saw great value in.
Mm.
You know? They were saying how I'd been able to really raise awareness of things like obsessive compulsive disorder and what it is to have eating distress.
I think it taps into the autistic pillar of justice and honesty.
Oh.
Um, they're also an example of world-building-
Mm
... which again is another pillar of autistic culture.
The s- the tendency to use creativity to process information and navigate real life, 'cause the diaries are the system that I follow to do this.
Okay.
And I use the different kind of headings, you know, like the, um, highlights of the day or books that I've read, et cetera.
I've used those headings as a cognitive framework-

... to break down the different aspects of my day into more manageable chunks.
