October 11, 2026 - Hancock District Library

And we can pivot now because it's coming to the end of the program.

We could pivot more to that millage that is coming up.

That's kind of the elephant in the room.

November 3rd, the millage for the Hancock Area District Library will appear on the ballot.

It will be.

It'll appear on page two of your ballot.

So you've got to turn that ballot over.

And that's not just that millage.

It's a whole bunch of other things.

So just in general, please don't forget to flip that ballot over.

I know a lot of people forget.

That's right.

You know, or if you vote straight ticket or something at the top of the ballot, there's a lot that really impacts our local quality of life.

I think it says nonpartisan section or something like that.

Yeah.

Yes.

And so, yeah, what's on the ballot for us is a seven tenths mill millage for five years, whereupon you'll see it on the ballot again, should it should it pass.

And, you know, should that millage pass, then the Hancock area district library will persist in existing and offering the incredible array of services it's already offering.

We have this proven track record of being an incredibly good steward of the resources that we've had, delivering an incredibly high level of service with the resources we've had.

If the millage does not pass and no millage has passed by April 1st, then we'll revert to being a school public library.

And the library will be funded through the school district, but not in the manner in which folks have become accustomed to.

Because as we've covered, it won't be able to be staffed by a professional librarian.

It won't be able to be staffed for 60 hours a week.

So you'll see huge reductions in the services, the programming costs.
