On this episode, host Nate Moore is joined by his friend and colleague Glenn Gray, Chief Growth Officer at Buffalo Groupe. Glenn shares his first-hand perspective on the evolution of golf, industry…
Glenn GrayGuestYeah, we talk a lot about on this on this podcast because it is ostensibly a golf sort of specific show, or at least talking with folks who are in that industry.
But I'm always interested to hear how folks like an Evan Thompson, a golf creator who played college football at Kennesaw State or, you know, Thinking of Emma Carpenter, too, who does so much work for the Big Ten Network and football and other sports.
I'm always so interested to hear about how I guess because we get so, I guess, blinders on in the golf industry.
That is a really went on the grand scheme of things, a very tight knit, very small industry in terms of its scale.
How has the experience you've had not only in soccer athletically and at the collegiate level, but also in your professional career working across multiple sports before you really got deep into golf? How has that kind of served you over that journey?

I mean, I think just the diversity of, I mean, first and foremost, I'm passionate about sports.

And so, and a lot of people say this, but like, it really is like just a joy to like have these conversations because I'm generally interested in these topics.

It's not like I'm forced to have discussions about things that I don't really care about.

And so I always kind of put on the perspective of me as the golfer or me as the consumer.

And I think that that's certainly helpful and just to where that relationship could lead and where our guidance may point them.

So from that perspective, I just, it's kind of how I approach things when we're just getting going with an opportunity at Buffalo.

I'd say having that athlete mindset, it's something I take a lot of pride in and we're fortunate at Buffalo to have a lot of individuals that are former collegiate athletes and come from a very diverse background and having that kind of growth mindset.

And so I think it helps serve kind of who we are, what we do as a business, and it just helps us to connect with like-minded individuals that appreciate the hard work, the preparation, all the things that go into it.

When I was in graduate school, It was just kind of coming off my soccer career, and I was selected to do this presentation for the ACC.

And I can clearly remember They were like, you're selected to do this presentation.

You're one of three students from our program and you're going to need to wear a suit.
