Do you avoid using "get" because you're never quite sure if it's the right choice? In this episode, you'll discover one simple pattern behind some of the most common business "get" phrases so you can…
The key thing before we start looking at these, and here's the thing to remember, instead of thinking about the dictionary definition of these phrases like to get somebody on board or to get the project on track, what I'd like you to think about instead is asking yourself one question: What is it that I'm trying to change? Most business uses of get are describing changing from one thing to another.
In the case of business, of course, what we're normally trying to do is solve problems, so we're trying to take a negative situation and turn it into a positive situation from your perspective, of course.
For example, from not being motivated to motivated, from being not ready to being ready, from not agreeing to agreeing, et cetera.
Or for example, with get somebody on board, what we're looking at is a situation where you don't have support to a situation where you do have support, which is to get people on board.
This idea really helps you understand it and actually helps you build up a lot of different phrases with get.
