This week I show off what the ballots look like in Onondaga County, Why we at Onondaga County Board of Elections went to a 22" ballot this year. Also why some resolutions on the back are in a second…
What this was, was on late Friday afternoon, the district attorney, Bill Fitzpatrick, released a statement ending an investigation in the Onondaga County Legislative 16th Primary.
Appearance where they're dealt with mostly the wishing to stopping of the counting of ballots and declaring Ms. Tarver a winner over Ms. Bullock.
At issue were 13 cure ballots that had not yet been canvassed by the Board of Elections and allegations of fraud.
And to complicate things, the DA was doing a separate investigation and ended their investigation on Friday saying that they found in their investigation, now no indictment, no charging, but in their investigation they found evidence of six applications that may have been fraudulent or in their view has been fraudulent.
And also, it's important to remember, no ballots were involved here, just applications.
All we can do is say, you know, these instruments that are before us are either proper or they are not.
And in the case of these six applicants, now I have to say, I think it's the same six that we researched for the DA.
They did not release those names, nor should they, by the way, because if it is true that fraud was committed upon them, they are victims and they should not be dragged through the mud or prosecuted.
According to the DA, they never submitted applications, and applications were submitted to the board on their behalf.
Now, we did cooperate with the district attorney's investigation, and there were six that were brought to us late in the stages after the court case had been done.
And those six, we determined those six people, if it's the same six people, Not only were ballots never returned, but they were already flagged as part of our rejection of certain applications that either didn't match the signature, weren't enrolled in parties, so on and so forth.
And when we do, we send a letter to the voter telling him that we reject this application.
And I shouldn't say all the time because it's rare, but it does happen that an application is rejected.
