Dogman Encounters: Case Files of America’s Werewolf-Like Cryptid

Case file one, what is Dogman? Before we get into the case, we need to define what people usually mean when they say Dogman.

Dogman is described as a large wolf-like or dog-like creature with features that seem almost human.

Witnesses often describe it standing between six and eight feet tall when upright.

The head is usually described as a canine, with a long snout, pointed ears, sharp teeth, and glowing or reflective eyes.

The body is where it gets strange.

Some witnesses say it has muscular chest and shoulders.

Others describe long arms, clawed hands, powerful legs, and the ability to move on two legs or four legs.

This is one of the most important details in Dogman reports.

It does not always stay upright.

Sometimes, witnesses say it runs all on fours like an animal.

Other times, they say it rises onto two legs and moves like a person.

That shift from animal to almost human is what make Do- make... [sighs] That shift from animal to almost human is what make Dog- ma- God bless.

Makes, makes, makes.

That shift from animal to almost human is what makes Dogman the most disturbing cryptids in American folklore.

Common description patterns.

Most reports include some combination of a wolf-like head, pointed ears, long snout, glowing or reflective eyes, a tall, upright body, long claws, muscular shoulders, fast movement, deep growling, and behavior that feels intelligent.

The most important word there might be intelligent.

Witnesses often do not describe Dogman as a confused animal.

They describe it as something that's aware, something watching, something that knows it has been seen.

Are witnesses seeing an unknown cryptid, a misidentified animal, a modern werewolf legend, or something paranormal more in the shape of a predator? Case file two, the roadside encounters.
