Episode 16: Inside Job

Um, uh, interiors which were pretty awful, um, and generally looking at the inside of cars of the Clanger area.

So I will start it off-

... with a car which was designed and engineered by Porsche, that not m- many people know was, which was the Vauxhall Zafira, the original Vauxhall Zafira.

Uh, and it was really highly regarded when it came out.

I mean, now they are proper bangers, although the, the Mark 1s are starting to get a bit interesting, aren't they? I mean, I always liked-

Um, and, uh, the interior was, uh, much awarded, wasn't it? But yeah, GM at the time didn't have the engineering capacity to be able to develop that car, so they handed it all over to Porsche engineering, who came up with-

The entire thing, not just, like, the seats and-

The entire thing.

I mean, they, they gave them, they gave them some Astras and said, "Make that into an MPV." But the seats, they came up with that.

They came up with the engine, the way it drove, everything was Porsche.

Wow.

That's interesting.

And they just handed them a package.

Probably a whole pod on things that Porsche have done that people didn't know about, 'cause they, there was the original Seat Ibiza as well, wasn't there? System Porsche.
