SEAT Ibiza

And I remember that first kind of period of the business just being a bit of a blur.

Like my friends are at university at this point, you know, I've just bought myself this new little Seat Ibiza, so excited that I had this fancy car.

And I'm like driving around the UK, going to meetings, working kind of all of the time, like loving it, loving the challenge, loving the impact, loving the newness.

But What I can see looking back is also making like every single business mistake in the book to the point where like I can't even call them mistakes because I just didn't even know what I was doing.

Did you enjoy it?

No, I did not.

And they just handed them a package.

Probably a whole pod on things that Porsche have done that people didn't know about, 'cause they, there was the original Seat Ibiza as well, wasn't there? System Porsche.

So I used to have a Seat Ibiza GTI, which I was very fond of, actually.

Bright yellow.

Only an eight valve, to be fair.

And it's now just all the new models that that, you know, Spanish bit of VW has introduced recently have pretty much been Cupra.

Poor old SEAT has been reduced to having another facelift on an Ibiza that's already been on sale for decades.

like 10 plus years at this point.

Same with the Arona and not really anything new.

I think so.

And I think it's also interesting.

I mean, the top of this story, we've got an image of the Ibiza at the facelift launch from last year, and they've lined up all the other Ibizas going back to the original one, which I think Porsche had some design element in or some engineering in.

And you sort of think actually, like, Heritage doesn't count for much these days, does it? This is what I'm taking from this.
