So tomorrow Leigh and I will be on our way to Norman, Oklahoma, for the funeral services for Denise's dad, Don Masters, known by many as Speedy for his amazing abilities and quickness on the basketball court, and known simply as Daddy and Pepa by those that he loved the most and best, his daughters and his grandchildren, Donita, Dana, Denise, and then the grandkids, Melody, Steven, Christina, and our own Spence and Price.

We thought it would be most appropriate today during this moment of grieving and sadness in our POG family to use this time to fill you in on the events of last week.

So if you are a weekly listener to us on the podcast, you know that Denise and her sisters have been caring so lovingly and so faithfully for their dad in his continuing and slowly declining struggles with breathing and oxygen needs, and just all the things that go along with somebody that is elderly and has COPD.

I'm writing on behalf of myself, Leigh, and Denise to let you, our circle of friends, know that Denise's dad passed away at 8:23 PM this past Thursday night, July the 30th, 2026, at the age of 87.

Don Masters was one of the most kind, generous, and humble men we have ever known.

He was an amazing father to Denise and her two sisters, and Leigh and I absolutely loved him and always cherish the times that we got to be with him.

We can tell you there wasn't a concert within a day's drive that he ever missed until the very end when his body just started to give out.

Don was our biggest fan, and he always held just a small grudge that our picture wasn't painted on the water tower in Moore, Oklahoma, right next to Toby Keith's.

He also single-handedly petitioned the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame for our induction, and by gosh, he got it done.

I never once got in his car when he didn't have a stack of autographed POG 8x10s sticking out of the pocket behind the driver's seat, just in case he met someone who was a fan of his daughter's group, or more likely, someone who should be a fan of his daughter's group.

There will never be another like him, and we will continue to look to his example of deep faith for our remaining days here.

We know you are breathing that clean, beautiful air in heaven deeply and easily now.

Please join Leigh and I in lifting up Denise and her family as they walk through this difficult season.
