Just like how I feel with a lot of really good director's first films, you don't really watch it to be impressed.

You watch it to see where they are going, right? So I feel the same thing, the same way about Michael Mann.

the flourishes and things that will be his hallmark going forward in this film.

And then we cut to Amanda Palmer, or Plummer, driving down this desolate road in her yellow tank Jeep hybrid thing.

Right? Like the style and like the weirdness for weirdness sakes and the visual aesthetics.
So that's, I mean, in a nutshell, this is a very fine movie.
I don't hate this film at all, but I would never see it again.
