OBSESSION (Podcast/Discussion)

Uh, Obsession is a 2025 American supernatural horror film written, directed, and edited by Curry Barker.

Uh, it follows shop clerk Bear, b- played by Michael Johnston, whose friend Nikki, Inde Navaretti, falls dangerously in love with him that, uh, who knows if that's a good way of saying it, after he makes a wish.

Uh, other featured players are Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter.

So, all right, let's get our opening thoughts, and then we will get into it.

This one is going to be a, a blast.

So, uh, um, because I think there's so many ways of reading this movie.

So we'll go Jamie, Drew, Julia, and then I'll, I'll go or take us into it or whatever.

Jamie, what are your opening thoughts, uh, about Obsession?

Oh

... talking about the Cornell Seven is kind of dominating the n- n- news.

Um, you know, talking, seeing this movie, which is a little scattered to me, um, there are definitely some, some flaws, but there, uh, I, I do have some, you know, deep questions about this movie.

[laughs] Um, I also feel like I'll probably be a little haunted by the movie for a little while.

Mm.

Some of the, the, the gratuitous violence.

Mm.

Um, it was...

I, I don't, I don't know.

It's, I'm not, I don't wanna say it's not a bad movie.

It's not a g- I wouldn't call it a good movie.

Mm.

Uh, I would call it an interesting movie, and it'll be an interesting thing to talk about.

I agree.
