Kirby Has a Golf Game?

[clears throat] This week we played Kirby's Dream Course for the Super Nintendo.

The developer, here's a...

I'm gonna throw in a little fun fact early on here.

Um, it's HAL Laboratory Incorporated.

When you turn it on, I hadn't seen this before, it said HALCAN.

Hmm.

And I wondered, I was like, "Is HAL short for HALCAN?" It's not.

HALCAN is short for HAL Laboratory.

In Japanese, its Japanese name is Haru Kenkyūjo, so HALCAN.

And that's w- sometimes what they used as their name.

Huh.

And the name HAL, actually, this came up when I was looking that up, is partially because each letter, H, A, and L, is one letter ahead of I, B, and M, and they're like, "We're one step ahead of IBM."

What the heck?

I don't know if IBM probably doesn't even know them as competition.

[laughs]

I know.

And it's also, like, a nod, reference to HAL 9000 from Space Oddity.

Oddity.

Sorry, too much David Bowie.

[laughs]

So there, yep

yepWow.

Look at all of these fun facts

Now you know that.

I know.
