In February last, a new Act was brought in whereby local shops now have to pay €800 as an annual fee to sell nicotine-inhaling products like vapes and so on.
And while the annual licence fee to sell tobacco products is set at €1,000, I thought, whatever about the pros and cons of these fees, it put me in mind of all the local shops that we used to have in Bray.
For example, I can remember near where I live, there was Sibbington Stores, there was Coola Stores.
Do you remember you could go up and just buy sweets? You could get mixed sweets and you could get two and they used to say, mix them yourselves.
And I contacted John Ryan and he grew up on the Lower Dargan Road in Bray and he sent me this list of shops.
