In this episode Carla and guest co-host Vic Passion talk about the importance of voting, why it matters, and how to get involved. Head over to…
Voting has always been important, but particularly right now it feels even more so, critical even.
I think one of the issues is a lot of people find politics to be very exhausting.
I do feel exhausted, intimidated, overwhelmed sometimes, but I think some of the things we're gonna talk about today should make it seem, dare I say, fun.
Yeah, because there's so many important subjects, and if it's not fun, we bury our heads in the sand, and the next thing you know, we're wondering why we are where we are.
I think that should be our goal, is to dig into today's discussion and identify some ways that we can take away the exhausting, overwhelming, intimidating aspects, and instead make it feel much more approachable and something that we could do with our community and feel satisfied by.
Yeah, and if people can't get their heads, heads around talking about politics, I would love to suggest a reframe and just call it civics.
Because really, unless you're a politician, that's really what it is, is civics.
When I hear the word civics, I think, "Oh, I can't remember if I learned, if I studied that in elementary school or not."
So our goal here is to make everything just seem approachable and something that we can all get behind and feel good about, even if you don't remember learning about civics in high school-
[laughs] And really when you get down to the nuts and bolts of it, if you go to the Webster's Dictionary, they, they define civics as being about the rights and duties of citizens, and politics about creating policy and gaining power.
