Boggart and Banshee: A Supernatural Podcast

Simon and Chris have a feeling they’re not in Kansas anymore as they follow Jenny Randles down the yellow brick road into the Oz Factor: that peculiar sense of silence, isolation and altered reality…
Simon YoungHostChrisHostExcuse me.
Now, immediately my throat closes up.
Obviously, something doesn't want this talked about.
It's a set of symptoms described by close encounter witnesses that suggest they've somehow entered an altered state of consciousness.
It includes things like distortion to the passage of time.
the apparent disappearance of sounds like birds in the background or traffic.
It's often found in UFO-type experiences, but it's also found in other psychic experiences and visions and even the near-death experience.

And Jenny Randalls, when she wrote about this, she did write about it first in a book on UFOs in 1983.

But she was very clear that she felt that this could be expanded to cover a whole gamut of experiences.

And I think to some extent, this theory stands or falls by whether it covers all supernatural experiences, because clearly if it is just limited to UFOs, that is less interesting.

And here, Chris, I have to ask, because I suspect many listeners are getting a little bit anxious at this point.
No, it will not.
I think the last time I looked at UFOs was when there was quite a flap in the 1960s, and I actually have a scrapbook of UFO cuttings.
I always joke that my father worked for Battelle, where the Blue Book project was out of, and my husband worked at Wright-Patt Air Force Base, where the aliens are supposed to be in a freezer.
Coincidence? I think not.

There may be a couple more before we finish today, but we will be looking much more widely than UFOs, despite Chris's enviable connections with the Alpha Centaurians.
