And, you know, once I finally sat down and listened to what my son was telling me, he had been in contact with Linda Godfrey.

So Linda Godfrey said, told him, tell your mom to call me because I was terrified, you know, and she says, tell your mom to call me.

So I finally called Linda and she asked me about I mean, God bless her.

You know, she was so, so wonderful.

It's reportedly capable of switching between running on all fours and walking or standing upright, often seen hunched over roadkill or darting across the road in front of cars.

While whispers of a local man-wolf had existed for decades, the phenomena exploded into the public consciousness thanks to the work of journalist Linda S. Godfrey.

In the early 1990s, while working for a local paper, she began investigating a string of bizarre reports that had been quietly filed with a local animal welfare officer.

Her articles catalog the experiences of credible, sober witnesses, from tavern managers to high school students, who all told remarkably similar stories of seeing a werewolf-like creature.

One witness claimed the creature was feeding on fresh roadkill when it looked up at the sound of an approaching engine, lifted its massive head, and fixed the driver with an intense stare before dragging the carcass into the woods with surprising strength.

As the reports accumulated, they attracted the attention of local journalist Linda Godfrey, who initially approached the stories expecting to uncover a misunderstanding or perhaps an elaborate local joke.

Instead, she found ordinary people who were visibly uncomfortable discussing what they had experienced.

They weren't seeking publicity.

More than three decades after the first reports made headlines, people are still slowing down on that lonely Wisconsin road.

I actually had the chance to speak with Linda Godfrey personally on numerous occasions at paranormal conventions.

And I was always struck by the sincerity of her investigations.

Yet the descriptions were surprisingly similar.

She started out skeptical.

After interviewing numerous witnesses, she believed they sincerely reported seeing something unusual.
