In this bonus episode, Ana calls out Vivek Ramaswamy’s Ohio governor campaign for airing a controversial ad featuring the estranged mother of his opponent, Amy Acton, disputing her account of…
I need to respond to this ad as I think to all good Americans and people of good faith.
This ad was put out by Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican nominee for governor of Ohio.
It is an ad where somehow they found and unearthed the estranged mother of the Democratic candidate, Amy Acton.
So Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign went out and found the elderly mother, 80 plus years old mother, in obvious bad condition, toothless, elderly, unkempt, and they put her in front of a camera to call her daughter a liar.
Now, Amy Acton, the Democratic nominee, and her mother have been estranged for almost 50 years, for 48 years.
Why have they been estranged? They have been estranged because when Amy Acton was nine years old, Her stepfather, the husband of her mother, the man that was married to her mother, began raping her and sexually abusing her.
Her mother lost custody of her when Amy Acton was the age of 12, lost custody of her and of her younger brother.
That man, her mother's husband, was subsequently arrested and indicted for the rape of a 12-year-old child, Amy Acton.
That man and Amy Acton's mother proceeded to flee the state, become fugitives of the law, so as not to have to face the legal consequences of this indictment and this case.
And so what Vivek Ramaswamy did was go find this mother, this mother, who stood by the rapist instead of standing by her daughter, this mother who stayed married to this rapist until the day he died, Vivek Ramaswamy went and found this elderly woman and put her out there to attack her daughter.
In the process, In the process, he weaponized Amy Acton's trauma against her, her childhood trauma.
Because the thought that somebody could stoop so low, so low, scrape the bottom of the barrel to such a level that they would relitigate.
And even in today's dirty politics, even in today's politics of division, where everything goes, it crosses the line of what is acceptable.
And to my shock, Vivek Ramaswamy, instead of saying that he apologized, that he didn't know about this campaign ad, that it had been done by staffers, he took credit for it.
