I think the roots of this stuff for me, again, are like I'm basically a massive nerd and understanding the basics of it is your body and brain project your mind every single day.

The brain is one of the most obviously important organs and we all kind of reference it all the time.

So understanding more about why that works like it does, like why does my brain do this? Why does it do that? Why is this happening? Why do I think like this? that's kind of the stuff that kind of drives this the company forward drives us forward to understand more about ourselves because once we understand why that stuff happens it means we can maybe change those behaviors that we don't like very much we can change those habits those routines that we have that we don't like very much and the truth is the really optimistic thing about it is of course you can that's that's your brain changes all the time
and

depending on what you're doing with it it's changing in a really positive way or a negative way probably a bit mix of both most of the time so yeah that's what the kind of the driver for the stuff is and neuroscience as an academic discipline is obviously very very complicated very very advanced and they're tackling things and talk about things in a way that's really advanced but fundamentally every single person listening to this has a brain and their brains work in similar ways yes plasticity and stuff like that um so this stuff applies to all of us so it's about like oh this could fundamentally change our relationship with ourselves so it's about bringing that message to the people i think is what gets me really into it so amazing

Neuroscience can be something that is so intimidating and it's not something that is at the forefront of conversation.

And I think what we try and do is just to make it so much more accessible and simplify it.

And it's had such a profound impact on my life in a way that I use this stuff and talk about it and I'm not like Adam.

I went on to a lot of my sort of personal space and experiences led me to go and do a master's in psychology, but that is not something I was horned up to do.

I won't go into it too much, but that was my sort of experience throughout education, not someone that is going to succeed in that sort of space.

So Once I started working for Action Potential, the sort of experiences I had just sort of reshaped how I think and feel and perceive the world and how I sort of perceive myself.

People will have an experience of how they perceive themselves and their opinions and beliefs about themselves that can just be fundamentally wrong and downright bad.

And what I want to do is to give people the tools and the resources and understanding to... just reshape the way you think about yourself
absolutely but from a perspective of empathy yeah from a perspective empathy and we dig in store like i mean i've worked in the waterstones for just over two years now and even in the time i've been there i've seen such an increased interest in that like personal development space that self-reflective self-analysis space um huge titles like let them theory atomic habits courage to be just like all of these massive massive titles why do you think like why do you think now is the time that that kind of boom is happening do you have any like insight from your perspective as to why people are engaging more with this stuff is it is it the influence of social media and the way we compare ourselves to others is what do we think is going on there
