McMullen Details Philadelphia's Week 1 Roster PLAN

uh, John offense coming into this game.

Let's move into some Eagle topics here as we get ready, uh, for the, for the, uh, game coming up on Sunday.

Well, first, what did you see yesterday? Did you see any practice or it was like only what? 10 minutes of, of the team drills, I think is what you say.

You can say, right?

No, we don't see any team drills.

Um, About 20 minutes of stretching an individual.

Oh,

individual work.

Team drills.

We

are done with team drills for the rest of the year, basically.

So you don't learn much except the guys that are on the field like Bernard and Stowers and some of the guys who were injured and they're closer than Um, I thought they would be, so that's positive, uh, for week one, uh, with Stowers.

That's more about, do you need four tight ends active? Um, can he help on special teams? In theory, if you want to play like the Rams, you're going to need four tight ends every week.

Especially if they deem that he's helpful on special teams because of his athleticism.

Might be a good way to teach him how to block as well on kickoff returns and things like that.

Might be a nice way to sort of rep that.

So it wouldn't surprise me if he's healthy that he played.

But we'll see.

He's out there.

Plus, let's be honest, you don't want to make your second round pick inactive.

That's an ego thing as well.

Yeah, right.

Yeah.

So if he's healthy and he's deemed healthy, it wouldn't surprise me if he played.

Obviously, he's not going to have a big role on offense, but it wouldn't surprise me.

And then you get to see some of the individual work with the offensive line.

So it's pretty clear that, you know, typically you only want to keep eight guys active on the offensive line.

You want to have a swing tackle and you want to have an interior backup and you need an eighth guy in case of catastrophe.

It's pretty clear that Willie Lampkin and Drew Kendall are going to be, and I should mention Drew first there, that they are going to be active.

And then certainly seem like Markel Bell's in the conversation.

So they might keep nine guys active on the offensive line.

And that would mean Fred as well.

who would be likely the swing tackle still.

But that could be interesting, carrying an extra spot.

You know, they made a big deal about not naming the second quarterback.

Nick wouldn't say who...

The only hint we got there is Andy spoke Andy Dalton in the locker room.

Tanner was not in the locker room.

So that is leaning me towards Andy Dalton being the backup.

And that would also lean to what we saw through the spring and summer and the fact that they always defaulted to Andy first.

Yeah.

I think that's going to continue, but Andy said they haven't been told.

I don't believe that.

And Nick sort of intimated that when he said, basically, I don't have to tell you, but they kind of know.

And I'm sure Sean Manuel will get that question again.

He will not answer it.

Not that it's important.

You hope Jalen Hurts plays the entire game, but you never know.

Look at Sam Darnall, who's been very durable.

So...

I do think it's going to be Andy Dalton.

And yeah, and then it'll be interesting receiver-wise, but we can't get much information about are they really going to throw Makai Lemon into the deep end of the pool, or are they going to give Hollywood Brown or Elijah Moore an opportunity early in the season? My guess is they'll piecemeal it.

want to get mckay involved certainly some of the similar things i said about eli stowers you want to have your first round pick out there um there's some ego involved with that um but you know he probably hasn't earned it so you're just throwing him in the deep end and seeing if he swims or not maybe he's a maybe he's a

game day player maybe he's not a

very practiced player

We got to say, I mean, that's, that's a big part of the question this off season.

And so I am wondering like what type of impact will this whole rookie class have this year? Again, it's a rookie class.

It's just year one.

I'm not trying to overstate it, but I think the last couple of years, John, we've gotten very used to rookies having a big impact on the Eagles right now.

The only one I see having a real potential could be obviously lemon is going to be the three, but yeah, Markel Bell, does he pass Brad if they need a backup tackle if Lane goes down for a couple games or something like that? I'm waiting to see what they do there, if it will be Fred or Markel.

But other than that, I don't think there will be much impact outside of that.

Yeah, I thought it was interesting that their unofficial depth chart, they had Markell as the backup to Jordan Mailata as left tackle.

That's what he played in college and very successfully.

But obviously, they projected him here long term as the replacement for Lane Johnson at right tackle.

And they listed Fred as the backup for right tackle.

So I thought that was notable.

Yeah.

Maybe they don't think he's ready to play on the right side yet.

But if I had to guess and they weren't going to use a swing, a true swing tackle, I still think they would default to Fred at this stage.

What did you make of, I think Lemon was listed as the punt returner, John.

That's just semantics, right? Well, yeah, Cubby's not

on the 53.

That's what I

thought that was.

He didn't look great doing it.

He's not done it a lot.

That's the thing, the two guys, and they listed Elijah Moore as well as the backup.

Neither of them have done it very often, so they're not comfortable doing it.

Now, maybe they get to speed, but I would think that Cubby's one of the two elevations for the game and he will be the pump returner at least early in the season.

as they continue to work with Makai potentially doing it.

I mean, if you want to play Brown or Hollywood Brown or Elijah Moore at receiver, you know, a way to get Makai Lemon involved would be as the punt returner.

But you don't want to lose a game if he flubs a ball late in the fourth quarter.

I would be very cautious with that.
