The RCVS has issued new suicide prevention resources following the introduction of updated practice standard scheme core standards, which from the 1st of April now require practices to have a specific suicide prevention plan in place.
The resources are designed to support practices in developing practical approaches to mental health awareness, crisis response and staff wellbeing.
This has gone to the global essential veterinary medicine list for food producing animals, a collaborative initiative between the World Veterinary Association and the Brook Charity.
The project aims to improve global access to essential veterinary medicines and support veterinarians, governments and organisations with guidance on appropriate treatments and medicine availability.
Elsewhere at the college, Kirsty Young, RVN, has been elected as the new chair of Veterinary Nurses Council.
Kirsty currently serves as acting registrar at Scotland's rural college and brings more than 20 years of experience in veterinary nursing education and accreditation.
on the 3rd of July, will include a keynote talk from Professor Sir David Spielkolter.
Well known for his work in statistics and science communication, his lecture is titled Communicating Evidence and Uncertainty in a Trustworthy Way, a topic that feels increasingly relevant across veterinary medicine.
