and I just didn't have that fear.
But my grandmother was very Christian.
So it was just very, very gently brought in, and
is what you do with plants, and this is how you do this, and don't worry if you're dreaming about that, and that's fine.
That's just a gift, and you're all creative like this because.
But I didn't claim the word witch, not for some time.
I was outed by all my friends who just went, like, I need one of your witchy things, please, because I'm struggling.
And I went, oh.
okay so but everyone's path is so different isn't it
sorry Emma that that like Vicky's story there is is very similar to myself as well you know both my grandmothers or mamgies as I say in Wales um they would never class themselves as as a witch they they never did but they were known within their own little community then that you know these were the women that you'd go to if you if you needed help in some form of way but they always went to the Welsh Baptist church on a Sunday you know they they knew the vicar very well you know um so it but it's just that thing isn't it about the word witch and i think for me it took me a long time before i decided to use that word publicly yeah
but
it was more about i want to honor the word i want to know the history of what the word which means or within wales gratch which which would be a more kind of derogatory term, exactly what the word witch is anyway, you know, originally, like a slang word, wasn't it? It was, you know, meant to, you know, be grotesque.
And I thought, I personally don't want to call myself a witch unless I know the history and unless I can wear it with pride, you know?
Yeah, see, I don't have that background at all.
And I don't remember any of my females in my family being particularly wise in any way in terms of like herbal magic or any remedies or anything.
I just didn't have any of that.
And they weren't particularly religious either.
They come from very humble background.
But I was writing something the other day about this, but...
I went to Sunday school, but it was all about competition for me.
The more I went, the more points I'd get.
