Ashley, can I ask you a question about being a PA? It feels like in the last maybe 10 years, I see more and more PAs where I think when I was younger in my twenties, I don't ever remember seeing a PA.
Is it, is there a reason for the shift in the industry? You're going
to the You're going to the doctor more because you're
old.
I can say that because I'm older than you.
Sorry.
No, over to you, Ashley.
It's definitely a rapidly growing profession.
Even since I applied to PA school, let's see, I think I applied in 2022, and just the number of PA schools alone have already increased so much beyond what they were in Texas when I was applying just a few years ago.
Do you mind if I ask, so what's the delineator? What can a doctor do that a PA can't?
Um, there's not a lot of things that are like specifically that the doctor can do this, the PA cannot, but, um, There's like a lot of it kind of depends on like your relationship with your supervising physician.
So kind of the big thing is that as a PA, you can't practice independently.
I have to have a supervising physician that like
on
like my license and all that I have to like go onto the Texas medical board website and put in there, like, this is my supervising physician.
This is their license number.
they have to put in like their approval that they're like, I am supervising this PA.
I give them permission to, prescribed medications under my name.
Okay.
Meredith, once again, we are a learning podcast.
I'm telling you.
Yep.
