Ep. 15 - Strict Buddy Read: I Who Have Never Known Men

Yeah, so we came up with three rules for a strict buddy read.

Rule number one is that Us three participating buddies must complete the assigned reading each day, no more, no less.

So the audio book is broken up into seven parts and we figured out where each of those parts end in the book because there are no chapters in the book that we read.

And so on day one, we read or listened to part one and so on and so forth.

So it took us about a week to get through all seven parts.

And each day we had to get our reading done and we could not read past that part.

Rule number two, we could not communicate at all.

So we still have not talked about our reactions, our theories, our experience of how the buddy read went.

We are all in the dark of how the others are feeling.

And then rule number three, buddies may not read another book in the same format.

So for me, I read physically, so I could not read another physical book throughout that week of the strict buddy read.

I was able to audio book, but I could not physically read and vice versa.

Paige listened to it on audio, so she could not listen to another audio book throughout the challenge.

The book that we decided to read was I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Hartman.

And truthfully, we decided to read that because it was short and it just seemed like a

good fit to try

for our first ever strict buddy read.

Short and I feel like not necessarily controversial, but like very well known and talked about.

And everyone was like, what did I just read when they read that

book? Yeah.

Yeah.

And I kind of, I feel like a lot of people have also said that when they were reading this book, it was hard to put down because they just wanted to see what would happen.

And so I was kind of excited to know that I could only read a set amount each day.

Yeah.

I was excited to have that challenge of potentially ending in the middle of a section where I really wanted to keep reading and couldn't.
