And, uh, One of our listeners, Elizabeth, wrote me saying that she's very excited that I read Margaret Atwood, a.k.a.

The Handmaid's Tale.

And then the most recent read was The Testaments because she was an English major and Atwood spoke at her college.

Her name's Elizabeth.

And she says she's hands down one of the greatest writers of our time, and I totally agree.

Like, I think...

I knew the story of Handmaid's Tale going into it, so that kind of, like, spoiled a lot of it for me because I'd watched the show.

I purposely didn't watch the Testaments because I wanted to read the book first.

While Evangeline hopes that she'll be able to get the abortion, and maybe more than that, not have to go back home and live under the same roof as a rapist of the past two fucking years, Kat wonders why the legal chicanery that should be freeing Evangeline from this prison isn't happening faster.

And Kat doesn't know why we're hurtling towards being in The Handmaid's Tale, despite Carisi's Catholicism seeming to stand in the same general vicinity as these faux-Christian douchers he's arguing a case against.

Then they get a call and Evangeline has thrown herself down the stairs of the hospital.

Relieved that there's still a fetal heartbeat, dear old mom tells Evangeline that they'll raise the child as her sibling and that they'll talk about James later.

Yeah, just a bit.

Just a little bit.

How far off are we from The Handmaid's Tale? This is, of course, 2019, so about that.
