So, yeah, so this year, I mean, like I said, I'm not much for turkey hunting.

I mean, for me, I kind of just do it because you can't hunt whitetails in the spring, so it's kind of like, it's just something to go after.

And, um, I hate to say it like this year compared to the past three years I've tried, I barely put any scouting into it.

Um, I was just kind of hoping that something would be up at our family land up in Northern PA.

And, um, I think I only went out two times this year and on the second time I got lucky enough to shoot this bird, but, um, It was definitely tough.

I mean, opening weekend, I went up with my good friend and all I saw, I didn't hear a single gobble, but all I saw while hunting was one hen that I called in.

But during that trip, driving around upstate there, there was just gobblers in every single farm field, it felt like.

And of course, every place you see one of these turkeys, there's just posted signs everywhere.

So it's like, you don't stand a chance trying to get permission there and say, Hey, can I shoot that Tom in your backyard?

Um, my girlfriend, uh, she never grew up hunting or anything like that, but she really wants to go with me.

But, um, I told her like, Hey, I think it was Memorial day weekend this year.

Would you want to, you know, come along and you could come along for your first ever hunt.

And, um, the plan was, you know, she was just going to sit with me and I told her on the way up, you know, like we're probably not going to get anything like that's just how hunting goes.

But at least when he gets you started with it that way, when deer season comes, you have an idea of how things work.

And, uh, the next morning we went out and, um, We sat for a good bit in the morning and it was raining the whole day, which didn't really help with trying to hear birds or anything like that.

But, um, yeah, I think we went out, we saw a couple of deer, saw like a raccoon or something, but no turkeys, absolutely nothing.

to the cabin, the lane going up there's a bunch of farm fields and there was turkeys posted up in every single field but we just didn't have time to even door knock to try to get on a bird right so the day we went out hunting no luck in the morning uh we went back to the camp it was just going to be a short weekend up there we're packing up our stuff to get going and we loaded up the truck said goodbye to my great uncle and my dad And we went driving out the lane and I, you know, I asked her real quick, cause like we had like a three hour drive home yet.
