Influenced by the Industrial Revolution, evidence remains of mills and the town itself has always been surrounded by farmland.

Octorarda is a thriving town with independent shops, tourist attractions with the world-famous Gleneagles Golf Course and Hotel nearby.

Many of the original and beautiful art deco features remain and until recently the building sat derelict until it was bought and saved from a demolition by local businessmen in 2020 with a vision of restoring the cinema to its former glory.

The Picturehouse is fast becoming a centre for arts and culture in Octorarda and the surrounding area.

The Picturehouse is an umbrella for several arts groups representing drama, writing, photography, book club, open mic, music and much, much more.

We're joined firstly today by Peter Lyson, owner of Octoradra Picture House, and later in the programme by Tom Langlands and Leslie Buckendonald, both of whom lead several of the arts groups operating out of the Picture House.
