In this episode, we are sharing the space with our guest Jessie Kim, Manawa. An opportunity to create meaningful connections for ourselves and our community. We explore her story starting from…
Jessie KimGuestDiniHostLike, the, the idea of having this community that is quite solid, yet is forever evolving and forever changing within that concept of people coming and going depending on the vibe, depe- depending on their, their own preferences and liking.

It's been actually quite interesting in that sense, but like kind of like you, I like all kinds of music actually.

I mean, unless it's very extreme version, maybe, like, heavy metal to psy trance.

Like, maybe, uh, not those ones, but other than that, like, I'm, like, more like I actually like to move in all ways.

You know, like rapping, [laughs] you know? It can, it can also be in any, any direction.

And I wanted to give that variety for people as well, because it just actually doesn't give people an excuse anymore, you know? [laughs] Like, you ...

If the music is good, you kind of will have to move your body, you know? So in that sense, it somehow, like, evolved into being that because I'm not a DJ.

I think it wa- it would've been different if the main organizer was the DJ, then the- then you are kind of, uh, asked to DJ yourself, right? Initially anyway.

But because I'm not one, and I'm, I'm a dancer, and I like to dance a variety of music, it just so happens that, you know, majority of DJs, they have ...

Actually, all the DJs that I work with have very distinctive style, and they really love the, what they do.

So I just encourage more, like, you know, s- create safe space for also these facilitators and DJs to be like, "I want to do this, and what do you think?" And I'm like, "Yeah, why not? We do it," you know? And it's, like, more like the safety to explore.

And this has been quite a, I think, beautiful thing that I've experienced so far, is just what these, you know, facilitators and DJs are offering is just so beautiful and so unique, you know? Like, um, Mango Sago the other day wanted to open with some exercises.

Like, Leo played last Friday, um, bass chakra, and he was leading with, like, on the microphone and really, like, poetic and to do with earth.

And I was just like, "Oh my God." And so every experience, even for me, is different, which is beautiful and exciting, you know? 'Cause you don't know what you're gonna get, in a way.
Yeah, I love that.
I really love that, and that's why I'm, I'm, I'm feeling part of the community of Manawa as well.
