I'm a docent at a couple of museums, and I'm also a member of the Minnesota Art Pottery Association.

It is called the Minnesota Pottery Festival, and I have gone for about five years, and every year has been really fun.

And so there's a competition, you know, four or five potters up on their wheels and they have to produce a specific item to a specification or a quantity.

And when you watch them firing it, no pun intended, it actually is put into fire.

And that is part of what creates the colorations like iridescent blues, blacks, burgundies.
