Episode 103 : Third Party Programs

So we had our weekly bonus rolls unlock this week, and I, uh, I meant to talk about this last week, but we ran out of time.

I wanted to talk to you guys about how you feel the gearing has felt in season 2.

Um, there are two parts to this conversation, which the first is we had bonus rolls from the get-go.

People are upset that if you take something from the vault, you don't get to have it ticked off your bonus roll list.

Um, so I have some thoughts on that.

But also, people are kind of upset with the fact that because the cantrips off of the last two bosses in the raid are so strong, they feel very adamant that if you do not have those on Mythic nine out of six, um, especially for pushing, you are cooked.

Um, and they're even saying, like this season's very all unfriendly because if you don't have those things, you cannot like re-level a character, which, you know, we talked about last week.

Blood is falling out of the meta right now.

Guardian seems to be upticking.

Lythian, you seem to be leveling your mage now, yada, yada, yada.

[lips smack] Now, I know this is not a problem necessarily for us, as we will not be pushing the 0.1%, but I just wanted to get y'all's feelings, um, about how gearing has felt.

I ask you, I'll start with you just 'cause I feel like you've been playing, uh, without us, and I don't really know where you're at right now.

Yeah.

Um, so I like the gearing for one reason, but I'm starting to think maybe...

I, I noticed yesterday, item level still seems a little low across the board because of bonus rolls, but I'll explain that in a second.

But overall, I like it because with the bonus rolls, it really is...

You're really not incentivized to take a lot of stuff from your vault unless you get something really good.

So it kind of keeps you in the state where you need heroic gear a little more, so maybe you're doing dungeons a little more to get specific things for stats, which I, I thought was really cool.

It gave me a reason to kind of do more farming for items this time around.

But now I'm like, you know, I'm like trying to do some, uh, trying to push keys a little bit and it's, I'm starting to realize like, you know, I'm at like 326, I think, item level when like a past season I would have been a bit higher because I would have had like four or five more myth pieces by now in theory.

So I, I do think that overall it's kind of nerfed everyone a little bit because yes, eventually you do get everything in theory you're gonna want, but the road to get there kind of keeps you weaker, so you don't really feel yourself getting stronger as the weeks go on, especially if you're taking the bonus rolls.

Which honestly, if you're playing at our level, you probably don't need to take the bonus rolls every time, but sometimes it just is the best thing to take because you just get one of those vaults where you're like, "The item I want from the raid is going to replace this anyway, so I might as well just take the roll and guarantee it," you know? But-
