🎧 A cozy, behind-the-scenes podcast for artists, animators and storytellers. Put it on while you draw, animate or make your own art! In this episode we press play on the brain dumps that got this…
Jenna PinchbeckHostAlso, after my long brainstorm in the night last night, um, this idea is popping for me about fragments.
What, what is it that we're trying to fix? Not just the character, but us in, in making this.
What are we trying to illuminate? What is it about having a voice that is sort of fraught right now? Something I didn't mention in the pod before was, uh, it was, we were talking about how we got disenchanted, and a lot of it focused on, like, okay, the work was really hard, or we were being exploited.
Part of that story, too, was that you go through all this horrible suffering and these crazy hours and you're just doing insane things, doing dangerous things, getting hurt, getting, uh, you know, just shuffled around like a, a pile of meat.
And, um, for what? You know, for what? I thought I was gonna be fixing something.
I was looking out over the horizon, you know, as a little kid, thinking there was something I had to do.
And, and you go out there, and you start doing it, and, uh, [laughs] you find out that n- not everyone's on that level, you know? A lot of people are not trying to fix something.
A lot of people are, uh, in it 'cause of the power, you know, and, like, the power dynamics you get when you're in charge of a big group.
And, um, disenchanted with not just, like, the, the treatment as a crew member, but with, like, the lack of purpose in a lot of the content itself that was being made.

Yeah, I, I think, uh, when the, the, the dramatic silence that you have before fragments in the very beginning of the voice memo is my favorite.

... "I wonder what this is gonna, this brain dump's gonna be about," 'cause this is kind of the first, this is the first one that you sent me, right?
