Sometimes in the past, when I first started teaching AP Art History, or just art history in general, I would say something like, "Well, this is, uh, this is part of Islamic art." I was incorrect.
Instead, when we use the term art in the Islamic world, it reflects a shared cultural and geographic sphere that was shaped by Islamic influence.
So in the future, when you are looking at an artwork from West and Central Asia, it is possibly art in the Islamic world.
