Star Trails and 20 yard bighorns - EP 5

It's a classic springtime, crazy ass hail cloud over just like, yeah, right over the road.

And so I was driving down the highway and I was like, this cloud is absolutely insane.

So I had my 14 mil on, which is the Sony 14 1.8, just like super wide angle lens.

What's a ton of light in really dig that lens.

What I did is I put the camera like super low, right in the dead center of the road.

On both sides of the road, you've got like these white lines.

And then in the middle, you've got this one, one yellow line.

It's actually a passing lane on one side.

Ideally it would be two perfect yellow lines, but it was one.

Anyway, you've got these like crazy leading lines leading out as far as you can see in the horizon.

And then like up in the sky, you just got this wicked pale cloud.

And this cloud, I mean, every spring we get multiple of them.

I mean, rarely do we get tornadoes in Montana, but occasionally.

But we get these insane clouds.

I mean, it looks like a bunch of cotton candy or just like these big, puffy, floaty, weird clouds.

And this is where large hail gets developed.

This photo, yeah, I took it in the highway out in eastern Montana, just a classic springtime view.

that I took in Montana I think I took it in 2021 it's funny I wasn't supposed to take this photo I was actually supposed to be up in British Columbia on a winter mountain goat hunt every winter I usually go up in February and photograph these crazy winter mountain goat hunts in bc but in 2021 i tested positive for covid at the time if you tested positive you could not fly to canada and so i had to wait two weeks and fortunately my buddies in bc were able to delay their trip and so basically two weeks went by and i tested again and i tested negative and fortunately i was able to still go up and go on the winter mountain goat hunt But while I was waiting for those two weeks to come up, I was like, kind of had an itch to scratch.

I wanted to get out with the camera and do some work.

And, uh, I went up to Paradise Valley, went up towards Gardner and in the middle of winter, there's always a bunch of wintering wildlife, um, that come, come down by Gardner and.

Yeah, I took my spotting scope and I took the Sony 200 to 600.

I think I was shooting A7R5 right off the bat, spotted some bighorn sheep about 2000 yards away.

So got some sweet digiscope footage and then I snuck in closer.

And by snuck in, I mean, I got like 20 yards from these sheep.
