POD 1.19: Uniting The States

Brian, president in Alaska last night as he continues to try to rally the troops here, and here we are under three weeks to go till the midterms.

The man is everywhere.

What, what do you make of what the president is doing right now?

Maximizing his supporters.

So, you know, I, I watch speculation, like you, Scott.

I, I watch everything.

I have no interest in people that just agree with me, so I'm watching all these channels, and they just don't, they still don't get him.

So they go, "Well, you know, President Trump, his approval rating's under 50%, and, uh, some say he's under 40%.

Why is he going out there? He's hurting people.

The best ...

He's the best weapon Democrats have." Okay.

What he n- what he needs to do is have his people show up.

He knows he's not gonna win over any Democrats.

He has to get over some independents, but for the most part, they can't be successful if his supporters stay at home.

The best way to do that is to show that he's engaged.

Yeah, I disagree with this, I disagree with that, but man, is he better than the alternative? And, and does he care? Yes.

He's in my city.

Does he care? Yeah.

He's with my candidate.

Does he wanna close the three-point gap, which, which is about everyone.

Three-point gap either way in Maine, three-point gap either way in Ohio, three-point gap either way in Alaska, uh, within a, a dead five-footed tie over in Kansas, where he's going today.

So what Trump is saying, "Yeah, I'm gonna put it over the top.

I, I ought to hustle you, and I'll, I'll re- I'll remind you what the alternative is." So his goal, maximize his supporters, who traditionally stay away from the incumbent second-term president in the midterms.

They just aren't motivated, because just like the same thing, when you come in, you know, when you win a division and you're in first place all year long, it's hard for you to be appreciative every day until you drop, until you lose.

And then the next year, you're, you're fired up.
