Do you need to completely overhaul your website in order for it to actually rank on Google? The short answer: no. And I think a lot of therapists avoid SEO altogether because they assume it means…

And before I dive into website SEO optimization, I've talked a bit about this on the podcast already.

But if you're tuning into this episode as the first episode and you're like, Crystal, what the heck is SEO optimization? SEO optimization is search engine optimization, and essentially it is the strategy that we put in place on your website so that when someone is Googling or searching on Claude or ChadGBT for your services, let's say you're a therapist working with clients in Boise, Idaho.

And in order to do that, in order to have a website that is optimized to show up, there's some things we need to put in place on the back end and on the front end to But by that, I just mean in the back end technical things and also like things like making sure you have the right keywords in your copy, making sure your copy is structured a certain type of way.

So there's some work that we put in together to make sure to help increase the chances that when someone is searching, your website actually shows up.

And so essentially that is what SEO is, is just putting things in place, a strategy in place on your website so that way when people are searching for you, your website is actually found.

And before I dive in, I know this is a little bit of a tangent, and I feel like I talk about this all the time, but it's so important to reiterate.

I work with so many therapists who tell me, but Krista, there's so many therapists who do what I do.

There's so many therapists on psychology today in my state that I'm licensed to work in.

The thing that I want to like really make clear is that a lot of therapists aren't putting in the effort in order to SEO optimize their website.

And this is one of the biggest opportunities I find for therapists specifically is that SEO optimization, yes, sure, maybe you can get lucky and a therapist website comes up that hasn't done any optimization, like maybe when someone's searching online.

But the majority of the time, like you actually have to put in a pretty considerable amount of effort in order to have your website rank on Google, in order to have your website be shown.

And so if you're someone who has invested in SEO and in website optimization, like you actually have a much higher chance of being found than a lot of the other therapists in your market because the majority of them have not put in the effort to optimize their websites.

And so if you do have a website and if you've thought like, oh, you know, like I'm just, nobody comes to my website, like it's, I'm just paying for it and nobody's actually like finding me on Google.

Like if you're feeling frustrated by it, it's likely because you haven't optimized it.

It's likely because you don't have the things in place on the backend and in the copy to actually help you rank on Google.

Like you're not going to put in the optimization and then like the next day you're going to be on page one of Google.

But I have actually had some clients see pretty quick success when we optimize their website within a matter of like one to two months, even like three to four months.

And I want you to imagine, just imagine that when I'm releasing this episode, it is September 7th.

Imagine that by December or January, your website is all of a sudden ranking like really highly on Google and people are inquiring you after just like searching for your services.
