Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manan, who had been brought up with Herod the Tetrarch, and Saul.
While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.
So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.
The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.
Something fresh happened, a new start, which just began the most extraordinary mission that you see in the book of Acts.
It's not like every church has to follow certain things, but we find in these verses We find elements that actually are so important, I think, to the Holy Spirit as he stirs within a group of people like us here today.
We'll find elements that are really important to pick up and to understand and then somehow to... to appropriate, to grab a hold of and say, okay, what does that mean for us as a church? So it's not a theory.
It's not a, this is how we must start something new, like plant a new church or a new congregation.
What does this look like? What's it mean to be sent out? What's it mean to be worshiping and praying? How do we hear the Holy Spirit? What does it mean then, how do we put this into practice? And we'll find really simply in these verses, I hope there's some principles here that you're already going, yeah, that's us, that's what's going on.
Or there might be some principles where you go, ah, how do I carry on working that out? What's my part in that? So we'll go through it, just kind of sort of line by line.
