Voice Reissues Special Part 2

Here to discuss the album Voice, I'm joined in the studio by Alison Moye and the album's producer and arranger Anne Dudley.

A little bit of housekeeping for our listener before we start this part.

When Voice was released in 2004, it was released only on CD.

But when the album was reissued in 2015, it was released on vinyl.

But because of track length, the order of songs was changed around.

For the purpose of this special, we are following the original running order as intended by Alison and Anne.

What influenced the decisions on the album's running order?

I'm sure we did it together because albums running order was very important in those days.

You wanted to sort of build up to the end of side one and have a good opener on side two.

Yeah.

I think there was something to do with maybe how the keys flowed into each other.

Yeah, that's

always a very significant thing, isn't it? For all producers, I know there's really, you know, yeah, how the keys move.

And

how the tempi, you don't want two songs of the same tempo next to each other.

You want a bit of variety.

I'm sure we tried it a few ways and I think we were always going to start with When Was Of Your Mind and then maybe we tried it a few ways and then we found this and we don't think we ever changed it.

No, it's bound to be.

As Anne said, I can't remember it being otherwise.
