Today on the Morning Edition, history has been made this weekend. The USS Ted Stevens has been commissioned in Whittier, and the celebrations were grand. We'll have a highlight of the events. Plus, in…
The cold, the, the rain, any kind of thing like that, it's always good to know we are gonna hold on to some mostly cloudy skies for the interior, but all of the wet weather is mostly staying to the south, including in southeast and south central.
We are going to see some of these warmer temperatures this week, especially in comparison to what we felt last week, so we are mostly going to sit near 50 degrees in Anchorage.
But again, brace for these light showers that are going to be fairly in and out of Anchorage and even into the Mat-Su Valley from today all the way into tomorrow.
Now right now, if you're heading out the door soon, temperatures in the interior feeling, uh, fairly chilly in the 30s, 35 degrees in Fairbanks.
But in Anchorage, in the Mat-Su Valley, and essentially in southeast, just most of the southern coastline, that's really where we're holding onto showers to start off your day, and we're also going to end our day with more of these showers on the way.
So looking ahead for our high temperatures today, 48 degrees in Anchorage, kind of feeling a little bit warmer, near 50 degrees.
But for Fairbanks, mostly cloudy skies, high temperatures at 42 degrees for today.
Now as we look ahead across south central, this is where we're going to see the heaviest amounts of rain into the Prince William Sound area.
But for areas like Anchorage, even Kenai and the Mat-Su Valley, that's kinda where we're sitting in the rain shadow, so we will still see some light showers, but we will stay, uh, we'll see a lot less rain in comparison to these other areas located on the eastern side.
Even tracking some of our rain totals, this is where we'll see up to over an inch of rainfall in areas like Whittier.
And then, uh, throughout the day today, we'll see a few hundredths of an inch, but we'll get a bulk of rainfall overnight and even into our Tuesday.
So for the day today, again, brace for wet weather from south central into southeast with, uh, mostly cloudy skies for the interior.
