Some of those detained are being taken into immigration detention facilities in McFarland, more than a half hour south of Fresno, according to KMPH-TV.

Fresno County Farm Bureau CEO Ryan Jacobson told AgriPulse yesterday he was unaware of quote anything other than specific targeted enforcement action.

I have no indication that they're indiscriminately stopping people or going after masses of people he said.

Democratic Representative Jim Costa told KMPH he was aware of the ICE activity in the Central Valley.

He's working with local and federal officials as well as advocates in response.

An ICE spokesman told KFSN-TV in Fresno the incidents were routine enforcement operations, adding that ICE arrests undocumented immigrants in Fresno every day.

Reports of the ICE operations have sparked protests at an agency facility in Fresno, that according to local media.

On his website, Jim Costa advises immigrants that they have the right to remain silent, to contact an attorney, and to have their case heard before a judge.

He further encourages people with questions to call his office.

United Farm Workers urges agricultural employers to protect their employees at their work sites, included by training staff and requiring law enforcement to have a signed judicial warrant to enter the property.

The National Immigration Law Center also offers a guide for employers.
