Neil Mitchell’s Tribute After The Passing Of Derryn Hinch

I don't know if it's time to be sad.

This is what Darren wanted.

He's told a number of friends over the past few weeks.

I want to die.

I've had enough of this.

Yeah.

So tell me about your relationship with Darren.

You must have worked with Darren for many years.

Yes, I was editor of the Melbourne Herald newspaper, now defunct, and I used to appear on Darren's program when the first edition came out.

Then he was going on holidays and he said, come and fill in for me.

And I filled in for him and then he went to jail and I filled in for him again.

And the next thing I was in radio for another 36 years.

So he got me into radio.

Wow.

We had a bit of a love-hate relationship.

We disagreed on a lot of things and I remember he went to air a few times and took after me and I'd ring him up and take after him.

However, look, I think we respected each other.

I've been in regular contact with him for the past few

months.
