You can build live sensor readings on e-ink with Marquee, Adafruit's new experimental no-code interface builder.
Marquee lets you design e-paper interfaces without writing code, storing images, fonts, or rendering graphics on the device.
Marquee supports tricolor displays so you can highlight warnings in red and add charts and images.
Marquee reads data from your projects connected to Adafruit I.O. and can display them as gauges or graphs.
Marquee supports e-readers like the XTE Ink X4.
It's great as a dashboard fed by sensors, weather, actions, or I.O. feeds.
Grab the parts to build your own or use ready-made e-ink hardware like the Adafruit MagTag.
The Marquee Web App makes flashing easy.
Add your Adafruit I.O. username and key, then follow the on-screen steps to set up your display.
Start with a ready-made template like a weather station, an air quality monitor, or a simple quote display.
The scene matches your display's usable area so you can see how your layout will fit.
Connect any prop to an Adafruit I.O. feed to show live data.
Drag props around until you're happy with the layout.
From there, add, move, and resize more props like text, charts, dates and times, dividers, and even images.
You can choose how often the display refreshes.
Use light sleep for frequent updates, or try deep sleep for a longer battery life.
Marquee is still a work in progress, so you might run into a bug or two along the way.
If there's a feature you'd like to see, let us know in the Adafruit I.O. form.
We hope this inspires you to check out Marquee for your next e-ink project.
