So right now I do want to talk about something called the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit.
I didn't really hear much about this and probably because it was part of the One Big Beautiful Bill, but not beginning until 2027.
Mm-hmm.
So we were really busy with absorbing things that came right out of the One Big Beautiful Bill and, of course, have been in 2026.
And now we got this in 2027.
So let me just give a few highlights about it.
So it's a new federal tax scholarship tax credit begins with the 2027 tax year and it's non-refundable.
It's a non-refundable credit.
So you may claim this, an individual may claim this up to $1,700 for cash donations to a qualifying scholarship granting organization.
Now, this scholarship organization has to fund K through 12, and it can go on your either single or joint return, depending on what you file.
That's
interesting.
Yeah, the credit can also offset regular income tax and AMT.
And because it's unrefundable, it means, okay, well, if you don't have tax to cover it, do I lose it? Nope.
Any unused credit could be carried forward for five years.
And get this.
no income limitations.
So that means there's no AGI limitations, which almost never exist in the code.
So you make a million dollars, you get to $1,700.
Now, here is the drawback.
Credit availability depends on state participation.
It's interesting to me.
Well, it doesn't mean they might not opt in for the, you know, they still have six months of this year to opt in because this is effective in 27.
