But this whole thing really started because of an Instagram Reel that I didn't particularly wanna hear.

Um, essentially, the Reel was talking about, uh, Christian women reading sexually explicit material, and then questioning why we were okay with consuming that kind of content.
And looking back, I think the reason I became defensive so quickly was because I really liked those books.
I had that immediate human, "I don't wanna be convicted of this," reaction, you know? Um, I didn't want her to be right.
[laughs] I was not choosing books because they contained explicit sexual content.
I loved the stories and the adventures and the fantasy world and sort of escaping reality, and the characters and the excitement.
And most of those books were just so much fun to read, and honestly, that made this harder, because I wasn't being convicted about something that I hated.
[page flips] For a while, one of my biggest defenses was that none of this was real.
These are fictional characters, right? I'm sitting in my own house reading a book.
