The deadly doctor: the murder of Dunedin teen Amber-Rose Rush

Amber Rose was born in Christchurch on October 29, 2001.

She was the youngest of three siblings and the boss right from the start.

To her family, Amber Rose was known as Peanut Ambie Angel or Shorty, a girl who loved eating potato salad and chicken nuggets.

She was known for having a strong sense of justice and for sticking up for the underdog and for her caring, cheeky and spunky personality.

Amber Rose was obsessed with the colour pink.

It dominated her wardrobe and was the colour of her hair.

Three weeks before she died, Amber Rose bought her first car.

a Honda Prelude which had a distinctive pink fluffy steering wheel.

She'd started working full-time at the New World supermarket in Dunedin but her goal was to be a dog handler for the police.

The teen enjoyed playing touch rugby and taekwondo.

She loved drawing religious figures and musicians Tupac and Eminem.

Amber Rose was a good friend to her friends and to her family.

Here's her brother Jaden sharing his memories of her in an interview with the Herald after she died.

She's probably one of the most bright and bubbly girls I've ever met.

She just had a contagious smile.

Everyone who ever met her has told me the first thing they notice about her is her smile.

Her sister Chantal said, Growing up, we were really close.

We called ourselves partners in crime.

Amber was more than a sister to me.

She was my best friend.

I could always call her for advice, even though she was five years younger than me.

Her mother described Amber Rose as the most beautiful daughter she could ask for, and the definition of perfection.

She was someone who was tough on the outside, but a marshmallow on the inside.

Someone always there for her family, looking after them and standing up for them.

She was the glue that held the family together.
